CoMInDS Program Profile: University of Michigan
Profile of the University of Michigan's GTA development program
Detailed Description
Each Program Profile describes one of several well-established models for professional development of graduate teaching assistants (GTAs). As a set, these Profiles are intended to help designers and instructors of TAPD programs think about the big picture of their program, recognize affordances and limitations of different TAPD models, and identify resources, opportunities and challenges as they design a program to fit their own institutional setting.
At the University of Michigan, the model is an intensive, week-long institute to prepare all new instructors in the department's large, coordinated calculus courses, including both new graduate students and new postdocs.
