Profile of Duke University's GTA development program.
Each Program Profile describes one of several well-established models for professional development of graduate teaching assistants (GTAs). As a set, these Profiles are intended to help designers and instructors of TAPD programs think about the big picture of their program, recognize affordances and limitations of different TAPD models, and identify resources, opportunities and challenges as they design a program to fit their own institutional setting.
At Duke, the model is a one-semester teaching seminar for new graduate students before they begin teaching in the department's calculus sequence..
